CABG: Not an issue of ok bed not ok. Every case is different.  It is different for example if used as access point for "on pump CABG" vs "off pump"

Ima, radial: three types of vessels are used for CABG: radial artery, internal mammary artery  and saphenous vein. The radial artery is removed from the forearm, the internal mammary (IMA) is dissected form the chest wall and the saphenous vein is removed form the leg. Arteries generally last longer than veins. There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach that should be discussed with your surgeon

Possible: If the mammary artery was used and if you have recurrent angina.

No: Circumflex is seldom a reason for single bypass or redo. Also seventy % is borderline for angioplasty or stent unless other methods show it is flow limiting (ultrasound or pressure wire)

: Sometimes, when someone rejects a recommendation for CABG surgery, consideration will be given to PTCA/stenting (percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty/coronary stenting).  It's worth asking your cardiologist if it's possible in your situation.

Complex, routine: With or without a heart-lung machine to isolate the heart from the circulation, conduits like vein segments or arteries are placed from the aorta (oxygenated blood) to the target artery beyond the blockage site, thus restoring oxygen to the heart muscle. If suitable, off-pump procedures can be used, though uncertain how much is gained with that less traumatic technique.

Yes, possible, but..: ... it is very individualized. Many factors are considered, including age, symptoms, stress results, recent heart attack, presence of diabetes, heart muscle function, coronary anatomy. It's highly complex, even if it doesn't seem that way. Your physicians prioritize dozens of data points to conclude that bypass may be necessary. Unless it is an emergency, a 2nd opinion may help allay your anxiety

Depends: It depends on the particular anatomy of the branches from that part of the left coronary artery to the back of the heart.  Small blood vessel branches will not keep bypass grafts open because the flow through them is insufficient.  Collateral (feeding) branches from other adjacent arteries may feed that area. In some cases, angioplasty (ballooning) with stents could be considered.

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: A CABG if done without cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb) does not require the heart to be opened, however most cabgs are done with cpb requires cannula placement in the heart.

However, most people consider any surgery on the heart where the chest is opened open heart surgery.
