Indeterminant: You did not mention about findings of ultrasound and  thyroid scan. Please have fresh look with experienced endocrinologist, expert pathologist and thyroid surgeon. i have two left thyroid complex nodules which is 0.42 cm in the upper pole and 0.61 cm in the lower pole. is this a serious problem?

: Simple cysts are not a problem but they must be evaluated and further assessed to determine if they are producing excess hormone. Good Luck

Etiology of a nodule: It sounds like you have concerns about a nodule that has changed in size and complexity. Is there a scan or report available? What is the site of this nodule? Was it found incidentally or was it there prior to the accident? What other signs are there, and what symptoms are your experiencing?

Repeat: If the nodule grew 2cm since your last ultrasound, then i would surgically remove that part if your thyroid.  If, however, your thyroid nodule grew and is now 1 cm in size, then i would repeat the biopsy one more time.  If this is still insufficient, then i would proceed to surgery.

i have a complex 2cm complex nodule. had needle biopsy and was blood filled. could not diagnose it.  will follow up later. should do anything else now?

Please ask again: E, you did not say where this nodule is or whether it is symptomatic (causing any problems).  Please ask again providing these details.  And of course, ask the doctor who discovered the nodule, and the one who did the biopsy, what you should do until "later".  Good luck!

: Thyroid nodules or cysts are common. I wonder what the reason you had thyroid US done. The work up will depend on your TSH level and the nodule characteristics by ultrasound. Most of the time needle biopsy (fine needle aspiration FNA) is not considered for thyroid nodule less than 10 mm unless the nodule has characteristic features of a malignant nodule.

is a 4.2x1.6x2.5cm heterogeneous complex nodule w/increased vascularity in midportion of the thyroid always cancer.?

: Not always. Increased vascularity in a thyroid nodule doesn't always predict malignancy. I'm a firm believer in having the endocrinologist and an experienced head and neck surgeon collaborate in these cases in providing best advice and follow-up.
