i take travatan, combigan, and trusopt in eye.  my eye is very red most of time.  anything i can do to lessen the redness?  no pain in eye..just red.

Alter medications: the most likely cause for the redness is the Combigan.  Talk with your ophthalmologist (you are seeing an MD for this-yes?) and see if you can adjust the medication and still get pressure lowering to the proper level with less or no redness.

Not likely: Ed is not known to be caused by these eyedrops.   However you can reduce your risk of any side-effects if you employ naso-lacimal duct obstruction for 3-5 minutes after you instill the drops.

Red eyes: One of the common side effects of Lumigan is chronic red eye.  You may use naphcon a (over the counter) on occasion for taking out the redness.  Do not overuse this drop (no more than once per day) or you may develop rebound redness.

i'm using allergan (combigan and ganfort) for an advanced glaucoma. are these the best drugs for treating glaucoma, or are there better ones?

Glaucoma: Both combigan and ganfort are combination drops. Both contain timolol which would be unnecessary duplicate therapy with potential for side effects. This maybe something to address with your eye doc. However, it is often difficult to suggest alternatives in advanced glaucoma if a regimen is already working for you...a sort of ' don't fix what's not broken' approach. Good luck

Reversible: There is evidence that the changes in eyelashes induced by Travatan is reversible. This may take months unfortunately as it has to do with changes in the hair growth cycle. Good luck.

Travatan Z: (and other drops similar to that) commonly cause increased eyelash growth and thickening.  These side effects will gradually resolve since you switched to a different class of eye drops.

been on combigan for years. just added lantaprost.  eyes now dry. pressure 12 in medicated eye.  can i stop lantaprost since it has made dry eye worse?

Ask your doctor: Your doctor obviously added latanaprost for a reason, probably because your eye pressure was too high. So, if you just stop it, you will be back where you started.  Ask your doctor about maybe switching to another eye drop instead.

Anti-bacterial: Gentamicin is a broad spectrum and very effective treatment for superficial infections of the eyes.  It is fully generic and quite inexpensive as well.

Accepted Answer

Art. tears better: I would not use Dexamethasone drops without supervision by an ophthalmologist (they may cause increased pressure in the eyes, may mask infection, etc.)  neomycin and polymyxin drops may cause allergic irritation.  The moisturizing effect of artificial tears is safest.  If the pinguecula cause symptoms in spite of four times a day art. Tears, you should probably see your eye doctor..Y.

is voltaren (diclofenac) ophthalmic drops effective?

Accepted Answer

It depends: It depends on why it is being used. It can be effective for bacterial infection.
