Heart Failure: In some people heart function improves with medical therapy. In patient who doesn't respond to medical therapy, they continue to deteriorate and die from heart failure and its complications like cardiac arrhythmias and sudden heart death. It is difficult to predict the life expectancy. Existing data shows mostly it is.

Accepted Answer

Not reliably: If the seizure is for sure due to alcohol withdrawal, this may be possible -- but the amount needed may kill the person first.  I&#x27;m sure you&#x27;ve heard of death from alcohol poisoning.  There are many other possible causes for seizures, and alcohol-induced coma is not the way to treat those either.

Absolutely NO!!: I hope this is not something you were thinking of trying on your own to someone you know who has a problem with seizures-- don't ever try to administer alcohol to someone who is having a true seizure--if someone is having a seizure, call 911 and let professionals treat them.

: Overdose 2 months earlier would not be a cause of coma. However, repeat overdose would need to excluded as a suicidal person may repeat the overdosing.

my sister was in a 'induced coma' for 12 days for drug overdose/liver-failure 6 years ago. after she woke she went permanently blind to this day, why?

Liver failure: It's hard to say without knowing all the facts, but my guess is that she overdosed on tylenol (acetaminophen) and developed acute liver failure. When that happens, patients can develop cerebral edema and elevated intracranial pressure which can cause all sorts of neurologic impairments including blindness.

NA or AA: There's no easy answer. The core belief is that the beginning of this journey to sobriety begins with you - that is, you have to want to stop before you die - and without a full blown miracle you will die. But you are that miracle. Believe in yourself, ask for help if you need it - aa and na are good choices not ers and humbly ask for help. You are worth saving.

Redirection of blood: Even though there is a dramatic increase in blood flow to the stomach and intestines after a meal (proven by ultrasounds) it is thought that it is the increased parasympathetic nervous system activity (opposite of the fight or flight sympathetic activity) which causes the feeling of lethargy.
