Rlq pain: If you're experiencing persistent or frequent rlq abdominal distress,especially with tenderness there, I would consult an abdominal SURGEON for evaluation. The appropriate tests will be ordered and,if deemed advisable,a referral to a gastroenterologist or gynecologist can be made. I'm reluctant to blame constipation or sluggish BM's for the symptoms but if it turns out to be the problem get advi

had colectomy 10/12. severe colonic inertia. dad  had 9" removed of colon same issue. muscles & nerves bad. any connection?  ibs in family both sides. can there be a genetic connection?

Possibly: There are theories that ibs is genetic. I would suggest you discuss this with your md.

have ehlers danlos, gastroparesis and colonic inertia. ulcers in mouth and throat, bloody stool,post refeeding synd. is this part of gut dysmotility??

No: Ehlers-Danlos isn't the explanation. With mouth ulcers, I'd be very concerned about possible lupus, granulocytopenia, Behcet's, acute HIV, others. Bloody stool is serious and you're going to need to get this investigated seriously and quickly. Get with a competent, aggressive physician-diagnostician.

Enema,fiber,water: You can take 30 gms of fiber daily.Drink plenty of water and use enema to cleanse your colon.

Not sure: Maybe I misunderstood but how is taking the colon out supposed to help the reflux?Tomatoe based products-pasta sauce ,pizza,etc,alcohol,carbonated drinks,caffeine,etc make reflux worse as well as hiatal hernia,being overweight.

Maybe: I usually have my patients in regular diet before they leave the hospital.  By the time the food transits into colon it is digested anyway and mechanical soft  diet won't matter.

Clear liquid diet: Juice, soups, jello, etc. Are just some of the things that you can have on a clear liquid diet.

Accepted Answer

Anything: You can still eat much of what you like; the colons job is to remove water.  So you may have to drink extra water to make of for your inability to collect it.  I think everyone should be on what i call an acid-free diet.  Check my website for details on that; but it is really a diabetic diet with no sodas, avoidance of toxins and supplementation.

No benefit: What specific colon disease do you mean? I doubt it has any benefit for any significant GI problem.

Constipation?: If you are constipated and thats why you feel like you need to "clean out" your colon then yes a high fiber diet will help.
