Not known: It is good that you had colonoscopy and had the polyps removed. We do not know the exact cause of polyps. It is likely a combination of genetics, diet and environment.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i had a colonoscopy and i was told i had a precancerous polyp, less than 5 mm. im 35. does this put me at a higher risk/more susceptible to other cancers in general now? or is my risk for other cancers the same as anyone else without colon polyps?

: We know that people who have had colon cancer have more of a possibility of developing many other cancers, but I'm not sure that this would apply to you having had an apparent adenomatous colon polyp.

normal iron levels however hgb is low 13.6. what this mean? bening colon polyps removed. diverticulosis diagnosed from most recent colonoscopy.

Continue workup: You may still be iron-deficient if taking an occasional vitamin-with-iron tablet gives a false-normal serum level. A serum ferritin and some other labs would be in order. A check for thal minor and reticulocyte count may also be appropriate.

Follow-up care: Colon polyps are not normal, but it is good that you had colonoscopy to have these removed. Do you have family history of colon cancer? Even if you do not, do follow your doctor's advice for follow-up colonoscopy at no more than five years from now.

Real risk: Your diet and exercise have little or no impact on your likelihood of developing colon cancer, but are very much worth doing for their own sake, for the fitness satisfaction, and other health benefits. This is mostly about your genes and dumb luck. You'll want to be 'scoped fairly often and little lesions removed promptly to reduce your risk greatly.

can colon polyps or caner cause bladder irritation or uti  i am waiting for a colonoscopy and now getting bladder irritation and frequency of urine. ?

Not with polyps: Bladder irritation and colonic fistula ( connection to bladder and colon ) usually not due to polyps  but  due to diverticulitis which is a benign disease . Don't worry wait until tests are complete ..

i had colon polyps removed thursday after a colonoscopy.  the papers said not to take aspirin, can i take ibuprofen for a headache?

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen (Tylenol) would be safer. Do not drink alcohol.

Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

p-anca results high and ibs-d issues alleviated by cholestrayamine. colonoscopies every 1-3 years for colon polyps removals since age 30. only abnormal colon biopsy results have been lymphocytic colitis and an colon adenoma. no uc dx? ideas?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, positive P-anca by itself is not diagnostic of UC. You are doing the right thing by seeing your doctor regularly.    Wish you good health!

No: In the hands of a well trained gastroenterologist using the right sedation, you should feel no pain during colonoscopy. The procedure should last around 20 to 30 minutes. You may feel some bloating after colonoscopy.

You need to ask your gastroenterologist what type of sedation is used. Propofol is clearly superior to versed/valium.
