lump above collar bone, pain for 2 days only. dr said it didnt feel like a lymph node and could barely feel it. xray clear but radiologist recomnended u/s so dr ordering one. scared i have cancer. why u/ s if xray clear and dr said not lymph node?

: Any Trauma or Lab work performed ?  I would look at a Bone Scan , no offense, since you are female and 40 y/o , for a better rule out on CA, if bone scan shows a hot spot, then further investigation is warrented.

underarms tender and sort of bumpy (lymph nodes?), can't tell if i have enlarged lymph nodes above collarbone or if it's just my bone. pain pressing on upper right abdomen and on sternum. general muscle soreness. could it be metastatic cancer?

Possibly: The rotator cuff is located beneath both the acromion and the clavicle.  The body has a tough time deciding where the pain is because of the low density of nerve fibers and organs in the area. Therefore rotator cuff pain can be across the back, in the clavicle or down the arm.  You should get it checked out.

Pinched nerve: This sounds like it could be a pinched nerve in the cervical spine, which can cause radiating pain down the neck into the shoulder and down the arm.  Alternatively, there could be shoulder pathology causing similar symptoms.  Even upper lung pathology can cause similar symptoms.  This can be difficult to differentiate so see a physician if symptoms persist.

Musculoskeletal: Central clavicular pain could be due to inflammatory or traumatic pain in the joint between the sternum and clavicle; or the upper ribs and sternum; depending on the history associated with this pain.

Get a medical exam: A medical examination can help you here. An x-ray of the clavicle can show if there is any fracture. But this is only likely if you have had some serious trauma. Otherwise it could be some internal disease of the clavicle...This too should show up on a plane film(x-ray) of the clavicle.
