my tooth hurts, because i have lost a temporary filling. it is causing teeth pain. it feels like, when you drink something cold. is it dangerous?

Not : Overly dangerous.  But most likely exposed nerve due to the lost filling.  Call your dentist ASAP to get filling replaced before more issues occur

Not uncommon or....: It's not uncommon to have some sensitivity for awhile following a new filling, and more likely to occur with deep, large, and amalgam filling. Other possible causes are gum recession exposing the root surface and the bite being slightly off. It should be getting better rather that worse or the same over time. If not, return to your dentist to have check it out or some other adjacent tooth problem.

Take it easy...: Don't stress the tooth; try not to chew on it for a while. Avoid very hot or cold foods and drinks. The filling is probably deep and the nerve is inflamed. This usually resolves on its own, but feel free to contact your dentist for further guidance.

: Teeth are sometimes sensitive for a short while after a new restoration, especially if the new restoration was deep. In addition, the bite may be a touch high which will also cause your symptoms. Have your dentist take a look.

3 possibilities: 1. Traumatic occlusion (filling is microscopically "high.") Ask Dentist to recheck. 2) Fractured tooth, and fracture spread when you bite down on it. May need Root Canal or extraction. 3) Residual infection (abscess). May need root canal or extraction. If you Dentist is unable to locate source of your pain, and that can be quite difficult, a fresh pair of eyes may be in order. See an Endodontist.

Go for periodic exam: Hi, a filling close to nerve is ok. It would start hurting right after the filling was done ,if RCT was needed. Periodic exam is recommended every 6 months to monitor the tooth.

1-2 months: Unless there is an injury to the nerve, it could take 1-2 months for the sensitivity to go away. If the nerve is injured, then a root. Anal treatment may be needed.
