Doubtful: These injections are usually a combination of cortisone and local anesthetic ( Lidocaine, novocaine, marcaine, etc.)-no: these mediciations should provide relief and anesthesize the area.

has steroid injection in my foot 4 days ago, i'm still getting pain, foot cold all the time,  now have a lump at injection site. is this all normal?

Nerve irritation.: You need to return to the physician and have your foot re-evaluated. Although it is possible for pain to increase following foot injections, it is not the norm. The fact that your foot is cold is concerning. You need to have your foot examined yesterday.

tested positive for herpes simplex 2.  believe it is possible but unlikely. the test was mail in with me collecting sample.i had received a steroid injection an hour before i collected sample to treat symptoms of bronchitis. would this effect test?

No: A corticosteroid injection should not affect the herpes test. Herpes simplex 2 could have been transmitted by a partner who didn't have any eruption.

Medicine guesswork: &amp; likely both antibiotic &amp; steroid were not helpful/ inappropriate; recommended for desire to do something, often a big problem driving inappropriate yet expensive treatment. Cold is a widely promoted/accepted catch-all for lots of illnesses, regardless various actual mechanisms. Try antihistamine &amp; Valsalva maneuver to open up ear. Would love to help but more guesswork than usual from a distance.

No: Be careful with steroid injections. They NEVER cure the underlying problem. Steroids also break tissues down so you end up with a worse problem later on. Sometimes a steroid injection is good to use as a diagnostic test, but only as a guide for other treatments.
