Sx relief: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks.  Sip often to prevent dehydration. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy & high fat foods. Rest. Sore throat – gargle with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 8 oz of water). Get strep test/culture if very sore. Rest.

IBS?: After a stomach virus its not unusual for to have an altered bowel habit as described termed a post-infectious ibs.  This can take weeks to months to completely resolve. I suggest seeing your doctor though to make sure nothing else is going on. Good luck!

Maybe OK to stop...: ...but discuss with your doctor. Most upper respiratory infections are viral, and no antibiotic treats any virus. Your doctor knows this, so apparently thinks a bacterial infection is possible. But it sounds like the antibiotic isn&#x27;t working, and it&#x27;s probably the cause of your intestineal symptoms, so probably should stop. But don&#x27;t go by distant online advice; speak with doctor&#x27;s office first.

Possible COVID: Screening is available locally, and please check with your public health department. Stay home, isolate, use Tylenol rather than Motrin to treat fever. Drink fluids and rest.

See your doctor : If you are speaking about your 8 year old, I would take him/her in to see the pediatrician. In the mean time, make aure to stay well hydrated. Bananas, rice, apples and toast can help woth the diarrhea by adding fiber. Hope this helps!

Not MERS: Typically mers gets much worse after 1 week. If you had it you'd be much sicker. Common things happen commonly and it's much more likely you have a normal viral illness. Consider going to the doctor if you are not better in a week.

Sounds like you: have viral gastroenteritis or stomach flu.  Or it could also be the dreaded Influenza.  Since it's been 3 days, you are still within the window for anti-flu treatment.  Go get a diagnosis from a healthcare provider nearby.  You need to hydrate yourself constantly to avoid getting dehydrated and buying a trip to the ER for IV fluids.  And watch out for others, don't infect them.
