the past 3 times i've been sick with a cold/flu i also had pink eye. sometimes it's both eyes or other times just one. will this keep happening?

Maybe: Reddish discoloration of the eyes is common in upper respiratory infections, and may not always be associated with a viral conjunctivitis (commonly called "pink eye"). The mucous membrane lining the sinuses is connected to the conjunctiva via a small canal (the nasolacrimal duct). Thus any inflammation in the sinuses can carry over into the eye as well, and it can be very asymmetric.

See your doctor: You should see your internist as soon as possible, as well as your ophthalmologist.  A stiff neck could be a sign of meningitis.  The pink eye should be evaluated for a possible conjunctivitis.

Yes Pink Eye: A pink eye can be due to many things. Classically a "pink eye" is due to viral conjunctivitis and can be very contagious with severe itchiness. If you do have true pink eye, the most natural way to treat it is cold ice packs for itchiness; cold tears in refrigerator helps also. If severe an eyemd can rx stronger drops. Red eye: Pink eye is usually due to a bacterial infection, the lids get mattery, crusty, and  stuck shut.
Allergies make the surface of the eye red and  produce a clear watery discharge, and is usually associated with some itching, and if you rub the eye you can get it secondarily infected and end up with a pink eye condition in addition.  A cold is associated with a clear discharge and it can be infected.

i found out that tea can be used topically to help treat pink eye.  does the tea have to be warm? can it be cold? like after being refrigerated.

Little effect: Pink eye is mostly a viral infection similar to the common cold but in the eye.  Teas of various sorts will have no direct curative effect but may give some relief of the symptoms.  Best to use a washcloth soaked in either warm or cool tea but your pink eye will run its course whether or not steeped in tea.
