Unusual symptom: I am not sure i quite understand the symptom, but if your cough medication contains an opiod then it could be the culprit as many psychoactive medications can create unusual sensations.  You may want to stop the medication for 2-3 days to see if symptom resolves.

Croup: Cold night air can be soothing in cases of croup. Bundle the child up so they don't get cold but let them breath in the cooler air. It may or may not help but it's always worth a try.

Sounds about right: Not sure what the question is.  There is a cough-variant asthma and it sounds like you have that and that it is triggered by cold air, smoke and perfume.  If you are using the inhaler more than once a week to stop the coughing fits then you should see an allergy/asthma specialist for further evaluation and treatment.

Yes: allergies is worse at night and early in the morning. Suggest Sinugraine, Flugon and Zilfone spray.

Cough: Your cough may go away on its own.. It takes a while for the lungs to completely recover but if there is any question see your doctor. Some patients need antibiotics, inhalers, etc.

Breathing issue.: This could be a number of things.  Asthma comes to mind, with shortness of breath being triggered by the coldness of the air, or by irritants or pollutants in the air, or by exertion or activity.  Could be allergic rhinitis with a post-nasal drip, which can interestingly cause a cough, breathing trouble and wheeze at times.  Do you smoke?  Because this could be related to smoking as well.
