Same as angioplasty: This should not feel any different from a regular angioplasty.  As far as long term effects, the usual patient for atherectomy does not have very good anatomy and that is primarily the reason atherectomy is used.  Hard, calcified plaques are usually not amenable to other methods of angioplasty.  There are many cases when atherectomy is combined with stenting which is usually a better outcome.

Need to know more: Premature heart dz in first degree relatives ( before age 55 )?Cholesterol #'s, diabetes!drug use!, blood pressure all factor in this equation?Autopsies on viet nam vets, who died in the war when they were very young, showed most had developed coronary artery disease.

No: CAD generally will not affect heart rate or blood pressure, so development of abnormal heart rate or blood pressure is not thought of as a clue that CAD has developed. Clues that CAD have developed are abnormal ECG, shortness of breath with exertion, chest pain / jaw pain / arm pain with exertion, fatigue with exertion.

NO: I cannot think of a connection between Coronary Artery and Rheumatic fever. The latter can produce HEART VALVE issues and hear failure (Myocarditis)
