The dry skin and cracks which you describe sounds like the healing wound has been infected with fungus (yeast) which can cause redness, pain cracking and dry flaky patches. Use a cream/spray made for athletes foot 3 daily for 2 weeks. You should see improvement within 2-3 days but don't stop.

Sounds fungal: Would need more background information as there are several potential causes for rash such as this.  However, ruling out fungal infection is at top of list. Coconut oil has good antimicrobial properties and may have helped calm an inflammatory reaction to the infection, but does not seem to have completed the task. Would see a physician to confirm and take antifungal medication.

It works well for some, but not those with very dry skin, as it does not moisturize deeply enough.  It also tends to clog pores. That doesn’t bother some people, but if you have a tendency to get clogged pores (blackheads, etc), coconut oil might exacerbate that problem.

No.: Sunlight will make your skin darker if you apply coconut oil and sunbathe, because coconut oil is a poor sunscreen.  But coconut oil by itself will not darken your skin.

Possible acne- rare: Coconut oil has plenty of great benefits! However, some people report increases in acne secondary to the use of coconut oil on their skin. Majority of coconut oil users have very positive results. If you do develop acne, consider switching to Jojoba oil or mix  the coconut oil with a light oil. For best results, stick with organic unrefined coconut oil.

Coconut oil: Why are you doing this? what kind of skin issues do you have? are there other medications or products you apply to the skin. The general rule is that if you leave a cream on the skin too long, it may block the hair follicles and sebaceous glands and cause acne breakout.
