zpak gave me a nerve disease.pvcs & twitches.scared to take antibiotics now. was given clindamycin for possible tooth infection.how safe is this drug?

Safe?: All Meds have side effects, even OTC.  Infection potentially more dangerous than the antibiotic.  Did you inform your Dentist about your reaction to Zpac?  Zpac didn't "give" you a "nerve disease," you had an untoward reaction to the medication.  Please discuss this carefully with your primary care physician.

my pvc, s are made much worse by a small amount of salt in food, why?

Volume overload: Perhaps you have salt sensitive hypertension -- the addition of salt also causes volume overload and increases intracardiac pressure and strain --.

i have pacs and pvcs. does the caffeine in chocolate make a impact on pacs and pvcs making them worse?

Accepted Answer

: Recent study concluded that alcohol played a role in aggravating arrythmias but caffeine didn't. However many clinicians are not that sure from their years of experience and still recommend avoiding ingesting significant amounts of both caffeine and alcohol. I doubt you'd find many clinicians telling you to eat all the chocolate you want despite a history of atrial&amp; ventricular irritability.

are multiple pvcs in a row normal? if everything else in the heart is normal? i felt it and it was very scary, but im told its nothing to worry about. but is it really normal and ok?

: Yes, multiple PVCs are not rare and even nonsustained V-tach (three or more PVC in a row with rate above 100 with duration of less than 30 seconds) could be detected in a person with normal heart structure. Take care.

when are pvcs worrisome?

When they: come in "runs" (repeated 3-4-5 in a row) or when they occur without 'coupling" (a stable amount of time) to a NORMAL beat!.    Your PCP/Cardiologist will be able to determine this after a period of MONITORING!

is it normal for pvcs to last as long as 30 min? most of mine come when i lie down and usually in sets of 3's. should i be concerned?

Not normal: It's common for people to feel pvcs more when they lie down. But if you have long periods of every 3rd beat being premature (trigeminy), you should be evaluated. The test of choice is a 24 hour holter exam in which you wear a monitor for 1 day. Commonly the evaluation also includes an echo, stress test, chest xray, and blood work for electrolytes, thyroid, magnesium and renal function.

i have been bed bridden for 2 years, now im trying to be more active little by little. but i sometimes get pvcs while im in activity for 2 minutes maybe. seems like its triggering them. is that dangerous? i have 1-16 pvcs overall daily maybe?

: I would direct this question to any heart doc you have managing your care, As it is you appear to be  a "CARDIAC Cripple" based on some issue you have not clearly explained. Some people have occasional PVCs at that level and live normal active lives. This doesn't make sense to me. You need to have a full evaluation soon if you haven't recently and have the doc define your capabilities.

PVCs: There is no evidence that medicines to treat PVCs improves health and longevity.  Unless you have other problems as well. Discuss with your team.

No: No it's not dangerous to have PVC or pac but it's more bothersome if very frequent.

is it safe to work out if i have an increase in pvcs when i rest after working out?

Accepted Answer

: How do you know you are having PVCs? Consider an evaluation with your regular doctor if you are noticing abnormal heart fluttering frequently. After taking a history &amp; physical,  heart rhythm monitoring may be needed to rule out any concerning rhythms.
