24-48 hours: Typically it takes 24-48 hours, but it would be a good idea to have a diagnosis.  See your dentist or the prescribing doctor for an explanation ; remedy for the problem.

Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Cipro (ciprofloxacin) will be the next choice. This medication is to treat a variety of bacterial infections, not viral infection! 
take this medication as directed by your prescribing dentist/physician. Do not self medicate.

DO NOT: Do not ever take medication just because you have a leftover pill or two.  Always discuss meds with your prescribing Dentist or Physician.  Clindamycin and TEVA 3109 (Amoxicillin) are both antibiotics.  Your Dentist may want you to be taking both, but that's a decision for the Dentist to make.  Note that actual dental treatment required, not just pills, to cure tooth infection.

i just found one of my clindamycin pills i had been taking 4 times a day for a tooth infection. my last pill was taken friday night and i just found another- it must have fallen. do i take it to finish the course?

No: If more than half a day has passed it's too late, just toss it out. Know that antibiotics do not cure infected teeth, just prevent the spread of infection until you can have the tooth treated. Important to follow up with your Dentist.

What type of infect?: Although Clindamycin penetrates bone fairly well i don't expect that the tooth infection will respond if it is a cavity.  If there is a peridontal abscess it will need to be drained or the tooth removed.  If you are talking about gingivitis it should respond within a day or two unless due to organisms not sensitive.

C-Diff: Clostridium difficile is a species of gram-positive spore-forming bacteria that is best known for causing antibiotic-associated diarrhea (aad). While it can be a minor normal component of colonic "flora/bacteria", the bacterium is thought to cause disease when competing bacteria in the gut have been wiped out by antibiotic treatment. Bloating, pain and diarrhea can occur if infected.

Dental care needed: Antibiotics are a bandaid for dental infections. They can keep it from spreading, but to fix the problem you need to get the infection drained and usually the tooth needs to be removed. If the clindamycin wasn't helping, a different antibiotic is not likely to do any better. Please see a dentist.
