i am allergic to ceftin, cipro, macrobid, sulfa, penicillin, floxin and biaxin.  my doctor says i have an uti but she can't prescribe anything because of my allergies.  she says drink lots of water.    isn't there some antibiotic i can take?

Of course: The urine can be cultured to see what bacteria is in there, and which antibiotics can be used. If needed, an allergist can check for true allergies to antibiotics, and help select the safest one to use. If UTI symptoms are slight and they go away without antibiotics, that's ok... as long as a patient does close follow-up to check for recurrences or other bladder, kidney, vulvo-vaginal issues.

is there any other medication available to treat bronchitis besides clarithromycin?  i am allergic to penicillan. this drug is reaking havoc on system

Bronchitis: Yes there is plenty, call your doctor and tell them what is happening, they can change the medicine. Meanwhile take the medicine with food, not on an empty stomach.

pneumonia and am currently taking biaxin (clarithromycin). my mouth is producingand annoying. is this a side effect of the drug, or being ill?

Both possible: The medication you are taking can produce unpleasant tastes, but you don't specify what the problem is.  Certainly people who are ill may have a variety of manifestations of the illness, and in addition, antibiotics can predispose one to secondary infections, like thrush, which can be very unpleasant.

Clarithromycin.: There car certainly be a heart rhythm issue when this medication is combined with other medications, such as certain antidepressants.  If you’re on any other medications, run them by your doctor and/or pharmacist and confirm safety in your case.

my doctor prescribed 1000 mg clarithromycin once a day in addition to amoxicillin. whereas drugs.com says  that for h pylori clarithromycin should be taken 500 mg every 12 hours. which one is better 1000 mg once a day or 500 mg every 12 hours?

Clarithromycin: Clarithromycin has a 24 hour and 12 hours formulation. I usually use the 500mg every 12-hour formulation for the treatment of h pylori and know that to be the standard way to treat it.

my doctor prescribed azithromycin to treat my balanitis . because of side effect (increased heart rate) , the drug is now replaced by clarithromycin. how long should i wait to start taking clarithromycin after stop taking azithromycin?

: Right after your heart rate is normal. Also pl ask for instructions from your MD and have all your questions answered wjhen you see an MD this avoids apprehension and guess work.

Depends on…: Whether missed dose is at beginning of treatment or towards the end. Missing dose at beginning may allow drug level to drop below the therapeutic level; so bacterial resistance may develop. Missed dose towards end of therapy shouldn't do serious harm since a therapeutic level has been maintained. If possible, take the missed dose as soon as possible unless next dose is due.

Not the best choice: It might, but this is not a typical antibiotic for the treatment of utis.

BAD IDEA - Yes!: Biaxin (clarithromycin) can ^ skin sensitivity to sun. Tanning beds can also significantly increase risk of skin  cancer.
