Ciprofloxacin: Because of your description of symptoms, see you physician for possible complications of joint or tendon pain.  One of the known risks when taking Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is possible tendonitis or tendon tearing, this may or may not be around a joint depending on location of pain.  I know of a few specialist in your area if you need a referral.  Best of luck.

Quinolones: The fluorinated quinolones, including Ciprofloxacin have been implicated infrequently in creating tendon damage.  This can create joint pain, but improbable within hours after a first dose.  Many questions about whether your UTI could actually be gonorrhea or was somehow otherwise associated with acute arthritis.  See your doctor.

Be checked: Presumably you are on cipro (ciprofloxacin) for an infection.  So it is possible that it is a reaction to the antibiotic, or it is possible it is related to the infection.  I would let your doctor know immediately about your change in symptoms and be rechecked to determine the diagnosis and appropriate course of action.

Ciprofloxacin: It would help to know for what reason you were prescribed the Cipro, (ciprofloxacin) however, it is highly unlikely that your current symptoms are related to this antibiotic taken months ago.  You have many issues now, all of which may or may not be related, and I suggest you see your provider to discuss a plan for diagnosis and treatment.

See details: Are you saying you have been on antibiotics for 5 years? If so, why? Augmtntin can cause a serum sickness reaction that includes joint inflammation, not just pain. Have a rheumatologist evaluate the issue.

Contact doctor ASAP: You don't say what kind of infection you have. However, when these antibiotics are used together, ciprofloxacin often is just as important (or even more important) than metronidazole (Flagyl®). Check with your doctor ASAP; s/he probably will want to substitute another antibiotic for cipro.

Joint pain: Anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen will help joint pain from inflammation.  Acetaminophen works well for non inflammatory pain.

STOP: doing that!!!!!!! You are irritating the otherwise healthy YOUNG joint cartilages! You are ASKING for arthritic problems in the future!

See details: Unless you have severe pain and swelling, you do not have gout. It you do not have gout, then there is no reason to treat a mildly elevated uric acid of only 7.3 mg/dl. Look for other causes.
