what other bacterial infections(non-std) can result in positive igm blood test for chlamydia trachomatis. i have not been sexually active for 7 years so had the blood test retaken - again positive but a pcr urine test came back negative.no symptoms ?

Chlamydia diagnosis: All blood tests for chlamydia are useless, whether IgM or IgG. A positive test can result from distant past infection, no longer present; from infection with related bacteria, especially Chlamydophyla pneumoniae; and IgM tests in particular can give enitrely false results. Stop having blood tests, and find a doctor who knows they don't work! Negative PCR means you are not infected at this time.

i finished a 7 day course of doxycycline for chlamydia. 07/10-07/16 and had no sexual intercourse.. is it possible that the infection is gone and is it safe to have sex again?

Yes: Chlamydia is a dangerous sexually transmitted infection.  It can cause pelvic inflammatory disease if untreated which can negatively impact fertility.  And yes, the bigger the delay in treatment the greater chance of fertility problems.

No: A previous chlamydia infection does not make a person more susceptible to future chlamydia infections.  However, it is important to ensure that your partner is tested/treated to ensure that reinfection does not occur.  In addition, barrier contraception (condoms) can help to prevent STD transmission.

Hard to say: One of the primary reasons for treatment failure is the wrong diagnosis which led to ineffective treatment.You say "suspected"chlamydia".This agent shares symptoms with other germs, and retreating the wrong condition with an otherwise effective med is odd. I would want to confirm the diagnosis. Another possibility is continued exposure to an untreated partner with re-infection.
