Not particularly: Since I am not schooled in their methods I can not recommend their use.However, as long as you try it in addition to normally accepted treatments I find no reason to discard it altogether. Chronic conditions often push us to look for new ideas. Understanding that asthma is based in a genetic or acquired lifelong tendency is hard to accept.

No: your son needs evaluation, it sounds that it isn't only Exercise Induced Asthma, more strings are attached. He may very well need a controller medicine in addition to the rescue puffer that he uses before exercise or only as needed, or he may have a nose/sinus disease, etc..kindly see an allergist/asthma specialist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist/immunologist in your area, goodluck

Corticosteroids: Inhaled corticosteroids such as Flovent (fluticasone), Pulmicort (budesonide), qvar, alvesco, (ciclesonide) advair etc. Are the best medicines for asthma because they treat the underlying cause which is inflammation. If the patient is acutely ill or in the er then these medicines would not be used. First the patient would have to be treated/stabilized with oral corticosteroids and albuterol.

Check with allergist: Several options, so check with your allergist.  I am always suspicious for the presence of mold toxins when a patient presents with asthma.  Rule out mold toxins.

Avoid triggers.: In general, desert climate is best for people with asthma. Dust filters, avoiding pets, avoiding crowds may decrease exposure to triggers. If none of this works, consider medications after all; they may prevent airway remodeling and development of emphysema in a setting of persistent uncontrolled asthma.

: All prescription medications, OTC medications, supplements have side effects. Your Physician, the practitioner that knows you best, is the person best positioned to discuss your question with. Knowing your Asthma status, your medical history, and your other medications, he/she is best poised to give you individualized advice.

No cure but: There is no cure for asthma yet. If you don't like drugs, allergy shots would be the closest thing to curing .   However only about 80% of the people respond to allergy shots.  Consider seeing an allergist who can at least help you pinpoint some of the triggers.

Likely not: This is an emergency service not meant to do the functions of a GP. We are not allowed to proscribe chronic medications except for exceptional circumstances.
