4 year old son's on moxypen 125mg/5ml powder for suspension for a cold. his gp diluted it already. can i add 5ml of diluted mixture to a half glass water to camouflage the medication? basicly i need to give him his meds and he doesn't want to take it

Accepted Answer

Yes: Always a challenge to get a four year old to take his medicine.  The main problem is now you have half a glass of medicine to get down instead of a teaspoon.
Sometimes camouflaged in a strong flavored jelly or pudding might be an option to try.  If that doesn't work

my son is 6 days old and on exclusive formula feeding. every morning at 6am i  give him his medication (viropon 50mg oral suspension)when he was burping this morning a distinct yellow substance came out. is this because of the medicine or jaundice?

Not jaundice: Jaundice is a distinct yellow coloration of the skin or whites of the eyes. If your son is feeding well and does not have this coloration of his skin or the whites of his eyes, then he does not have jaundice. Many babies spit up white or whitish yellow. This is normal. If they spit up bright yellow or yellow-green many times, it may be time to consult the baby's DR.

Not exactly: The term 250 mg/5 ml is the concentration of the drug (the amount of drug in milligrams in a particular volume of liquid).  In other words, a much greater concentration would be 250mg/1ml (meaning the entire dose is present in a very small volume), while a much lower concentration (ie more dilute) suspension might have 250 mg in 10 ml.

: It sounds like a viral upper respiratory infection. The only treatment is symptomatic (no antibiotics) so those meds are fine (one or the other)..

What strength: What strength is the suspension? 80mg/0.8ml or 160mg/5ml?  The mg dose for a  22lb child should be between 100mg and 150mg per dose.

No: No, but the symptoms can definitely become worse with use of heavy equipment without much shock absorption capability. Repetitive stopping and starting can increase back pain and occasionally pain radiating into the lower extremities. The spondylolisthesis is likely an existing problem, however.

Doing surgery and not doing surgery both have implications and more testing will likely be needed to figure out how to proceed. But you will definitely need medical and/or surgical treatment of some sort.
