i  was doing the aloe vera leaf and it was working very good as a laxative, but i went on this chewing gum binge. now i am constipated. is it sugar?

Not likely: You may wish to try a fiber laxative like metamucil.

Possibly acid: Too much gum chewing along with certain mint flavoring a can increase acid production. Back off the gum and see if t improves, otherwise see you doc.

Let'sGumUpTheWorks!!: What a great tension-reliever! As long as you don't chew too hard. It would then be the somewhat equivalent to grinding your teeth. So chew gently and if it hurts, stop for a while. Great for a dry or foul-smelling mouth, like after coffee. But it can be seen as somewhat crude if you do it at work or to prominently. Whether sugar or sugarless is up to you. I do sugarless. Wrigley 5 Gum rocks!

Possibly, but.....: Chewing gum promotes salivation.  Saliva helps dilute  the acid in our mouths that is produced by the bacteria every time we eat. This in turn could lead to reduced tooth decay. The down side is that lots of gum chewing can lead to TMJ dysfunction. My advice is take proper care of your teeth by brushing, and flossing and skip the gum chewing.

Lack of absorption of sorbitol in sugarless gym  can sometimes lead to gas, loose stools and abdominal pain.

May be difficult: I am going to assume that you got hooked on gum to quit tobacco. Good for you. Now getting off the gum may be just as hard as quitting cold turkey. You can try and gradually reduce the number of pieces chewed daily until it is easier to quit or you may want to talk to your doctor about a medication called Chantix that has helped many people quit tobacco.

Leads to TMD.: Excessive gum chewing does cause breakdown of the tmj.  Chewing gum for about 5 minutes after a meal does stimulate salivia flow which nutralizes the acid in your mouth which helps in decreasing  the possiblity of cavites.
