why does my chest pain worsen when lying down?

Inflammation: Through redistribution of forces. Your chest pain appears positional and most likely reflects either musculoskeletal pain versus visceral, as in pericarditis when pain is typically worse when lying down. Would recommend discussing your symptoms with your doc at your earliest convenience.

Chest pain: Most probably it is musculoskeletal but all chest pain needs investigation you need to see a cardiologist.

Depends: Not sure what medicine you took and different meds will take longer to work. If you have been having chest pain associated with an elevated blood pressure that is not a symptom you should be managing yourself at home. You should be evaluated in the emergency room to determine if the pain is related to damage to the heart muscle.

Heart, stomach or ?: Need more information on cardiac risk factors, age, meds can be cardiac, GI, musculoskeletal or respiratory.

Need H&P: The etiology of the chest pain is very broad. Given that it is associated with mood makes me concerned about a psychosomatic pathology or an anxiety/panic disorder. That said, these are diagnoses of exclusion because your physician will likely want to make sure your heart is not the problem by doing a history, physical & poss tests. Another common etiology would be musculoskeletal dz. See your pcp.

i have chest pain in between the breatbone when i exhale, while i lay down. a squeezing pain, with body spasms. ctscans where made with no issues.help?

CT - when?: It's reassuring to know that your CT was normal but was it done for this illness (recently?). Your symptoms can be due to muscular pain, pleurisy or pericarditis. If you have fever, you need repeat chest x-ray, blood count and echo. Otherwise, I'd try an analgesic - ibuprofen or naprosyn (naproxen).

Deep breath? : Chest pain with a deep breath or cough, improved lying down is pretty classic pleurisy. Pleurisy can be due to pneumonia or viral illness. There are also more serious causes. If you're short of breath, you should see your doctor.

Probably related: to your stomach, esophagus and intestines. Unlikely to be cardiac.

Maybe?: Typically ports are as maintenance and problem free as can be but they can cause problems in some circumstances. Tell your doc to have it checked. The pain may have nothing to do with it.
