Stress response?: Although you say you are healthy, you had an ECG done for intermittent chest pain. Since I am not an internist I will not comment on causes of chest pain in your age group. Beau's lines  in the finger nails have many potential causes, but usually result from some recent stress that slowed fingernail growth. I would worry more about the chest pain if it is persisting.

30 year old female.. echocardiogram done in october shows grade 2 disastiloc dysfunction? is it very serious? i went in for some random chest pain and lightheadedness.? bp is generally normal?

: It is abnormal because you are symptomatic. Etiology of grade 2 diastolic dysfunction needs to be defined for appropriate care. You need to follow a cardiologist.

Unlikely: Do you have asthma? Are you over-weight?  It would be prudent to consult a doctor as your symptoms warrant a more detailed history, physical examination and may be some tests. If you are over-weight, try losing some weight. (easier said than done).

Multiple causes: Chest pain can be a symptom of heart disease but may be may other things such as esophageal spasms, gastritis or reflux, respiratory disorders (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, infections), and muscle problems to name a few.  It really depends on the clinical situation and other symptoms you may be having. At you age it is unlikely to be of a serious nature but if concerned discuss with your doctor.

There : There are many different reasons why you might be experiencing chest pains.  One of the most worrisome reasons patients experience chest pains is that they have a blockage in one or more of their heart arteries.  Atherosclerosis is a disease of the blood vessel where plaque or fatty deposits grow inside the blood vessels and restrict blood flow to the heart muscle.  This typically creates a presure or burning or tightness in the chest area which could radiate to the left shoulder or arm, neck, or jaw.  Often it worsens with exertion and improves with rest.  The most common risk factors leading to these blockages include smoking, diabetes, a close family member with this disease, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure.

If you are 26, of normal weight, a non-smoker, without diabetes or high cholesterol and your parents do not have coronary artery disease, it is quite unlikely that you have this problem.

Much more likely this is due to some other reason.  Stress can cause many symptoms in our bodies such as head aches, upset stomach, and anxious feelings.  Stress can also cause chest pains.

If your symptoms continue or worsen, i would urge you to make contact with your doctor for an appointment to discuss this further.

Need more info: Chest pain has a long list of causes, from musculoskeletal pain, pleurisy (inflammation on lung lining) and shingles to pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and more life threatening causes.  Having no other symptoms makes this less scary though.  Is it worse when inhaling?  Do you smoke or recent injury?  Likely nothing, treat with ibuprofen and if new symptoms/lasts longer than three days see your doc.

Chest pain: Recurring chest pain should be seen by a doctor. It is helpful for the patient to be seen during the chest pain so going to er when it is present is a good idea. When the pain is a heart attack this er trip may be life saving.
