Pneumonia: Pneumonia tends to be associated with higher fever, pain with inspiration (taking a deep breath) and an elevated white blood cell count (cells that fight off infection).

Pneumonia is serious: Pneumonia is much serious than common cold or chest cold. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, fever/chills, loss of appetite, bring yellow-green or brown or bloody sputum then it is more likely to be pneumonia. If only cough, congestion, low grade fever, sore throat, change in voice can be from rhinitis, laryngitis, or bronchitis. If high fever and body pain, make sure you dont have flu.

Inflammation: The coarse interstitial markings are likely from the inflammation of your lungs due to the chest cold.  This should go away after you have gotten over your chest cold and congestion.

Musculoskeletal pain: Coughing persistently can result in musculoskeletal chest discomfort due to muscle strain, cartilage inflammation, bone bruise or even fracture. This pain will resolve once the cough resolves. Without fever or discolored sputum, the cough is unlikely to be due to infection. Bronchospasm, gerd, post-nasal drip or a combination of these is more likely. See your doctor for diagnosis/treatment.

2 separate issues: Neither pneumonia nor bronchitis would cause a "lump" on the outer chest wall.  Coughing and trouble breathing can be related to asthma.  Coughing up thick, pus mucus with associated fever and chills suggests pneumonia.  Bronchitis is an infection in the large bronchi.  A chest x-ray would help differentiate some of these conditions.  A physical exam is necessary to assess the "lump.".

Symptoms include: The symptoms that can occur include sleep disturbances, tiredness and weight loss. Any chest pain or difficulty breathing should be reported to your physician. If there is inflammation and bronchospasm, inhalers may be prescribed to open the airways.

Pneumonia: Part of the definition is that you must have involvement of the lung tissues with the inflammatory process and this usually produces changes on imaging studies. On rare occasions the first chest film will be negative until you are adequately hydrated. You should be seen by a pulmonary specialist asap. Hope you are better soon.

Possible: It is extremely beneficial to cough during bronchitis illness. A course of antibiotics and albuterol inhaler can help prevent  pneumonia. Have plenty of bed rest, take fluids and carbs for fast energy, advil (ibuprofen) for fever and generalized achiness.
