Usually obvious.: Leg swelling is usually obvious. With trace amounts of edema, you can tell if your socks or shoes leave deeper dents in your skin than usual (tight socks can leave dents in everybody). Compare one leg with another to see if one is bigger than the other (there may always have been a slight difference, but check to see if  the difference has increased).

Require further eval: The common reason for the pulmonary edema is congested heart failure. The typical symptoms including shortness of breath ,especially when you are laying flat or exertion, legs edema, and other nonspecific symptoms include cough, fatigue, palpitation. However a lot of respiratory disease may mimic pulmonary edema, which to confirm require further evaluation include chest x-ray /Echocardiogram

Edema?: Lower extremity edema has many causes including cumulative damage to lymphatic drainage from surgery, trauma, infiltrating disease and infection. Elevation, compression and exercise are the mainstays of therapy.  Avoidance of salt works better than diuretics which may not work at all in edema due to lymphatic blockage.

Edema: Any time there is significant edema its important to make the heart (which you checked), the liver and the kidneys are ok.  You can loose protein in the blood from these diseases and it can result in swelling.  See your doctor and get a urine test for protein and blood as well as liver panel to make sure these are ok.  Also watch your salt intake.

Yes you need check u: All pregnant women are advised prenatal care....check ups with your Ob/Gyn doctor where they can check you and the developing fetus. There is risk of kidney malfunction which can cause protein loss in urine, menifesting as swelling of feet. This can be associated with high BP(condition called Pre-eclampsia). Depends : It appears the ruled out lower extremity vascular obstruction. Is the edema worse when you stand for long? Renal diseases, liver disease and congestive heart failure especially if associated with dypsnea on exertion are some diseases to consider.
