Further testing: You didn't specify what type of injections, but commonly, epidural steroid injections are performed for this.  If this has failed, a procedure that could help is rf ablation which would numb the sensation aspect of these nerves causing you pain.

Insufficient data: Does "neuro" mean neurologist or neurosurgeon? Why did you meekly accept the answer but then post here? Ask doc to explain the neuroanatomy: EXACTLY what cervical levels, roots &amp;/or nerves are affected &amp; which ones involve breathing &amp; which swallowing. Ask to review test results (MRI, CT, myelogram or EMG/NCS). Finally, if no treatment is recommended, I suggest seeking another opinion.

Gradually: A special pillow for sleeping, maybe with mild sedation. Avoid shoulder straps or holding a phone with your shoulder up to your ear. Heat and relaxation exercises. Get up from your desk frequently and walk around.

Rarely is it serious: &amp; yes pinched nerve causing pain into  arm is cervical radiculopathy. 90% are treated non op &amp; get better-10% require surgery with &gt; 90% success rate. Rarely do disc herniations cause any significant neurologic or nerve injuries with only 20% of herniations leading to any neurologic findings on exam.  See a neurologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedic spine surgeon or physiatrist or pain management.

I would say that: for most people, by the time we reach 40, we are going to find something "wrong" in their spine, degenerative changes, etc.  Wear and tear is part of life.  However, whenever these changes lead to radiculopathy, this is a different type of pain.

Pain from neck-&gt; arm: Cervical radiculopathy is usually pain with numbness, weakness, and tingling from your neck which radiates (shoots) down your arm(s).  The causes are usually from a cervical herniated disc, cervical spinal stenosis, cervical degenerative disc disease, or much rarer conditions like tumor, fracture, or sarcoidosis which can compress or cause damage to cervical nerve roots.  You can try ibuprofen.

: A local ointment applied over muscles in spasm might temporarily mollify pain and stiffness, but would have little if any effect on nerve compression pain, and would only last a few hours at most.  Therefore, this is a marginal solution.  Consider physical therapy as a more successful approach.
