Proper diagnosis: Ddd,djd of thoracic spine shouldn't cause headache or jaw pain. I recommend consulting a neurologist to pinpoint the cause of your symptoms and the insurance company is more apt to grant permission for an MRI of the cervical spine if the neurologist advises one. Treatment options may include physical therapy with traction and/or pain management referral.

LONGER TO RECOVER: If the root is chronically and fully compressed, could result in outer and inner nerve damage, which would truly require surgical decompression asap, but postop recovery could take months.  However, the root could be salvaged.

Sometimes it takes up to 3 iniitial injections to have an effect; additional injects can be performed after 6-12 months.

I would say that: for most people, by the time we reach 40, we are going to find something "wrong" in their spine, degenerative changes, etc.  Wear and tear is part of life.  However, whenever these changes lead to radiculopathy, this is a different type of pain.
