Pilocarpine is also in salagen, an oral medication used for dry mouth as it stimulates salivation.

Not this: It would be unlikely that you are allergic to hydrochloride which is actually the salt binding to the active molecule.  Perhaps you meant hydrocodone which is often not tolerated.  If so, tramadol may be a reasonable choice.

Diltiazem has various immediate release and sustained release formulations so be sure that you are taking it properly.

It depends: It may actually be for your kidneys, but not highly likely. More likely, it is to lower the "peaks" of your blood pressure, so they do not get as high. If you see #s >140 / >90, then your doc is likely doing this. If not, then you should ask your doc the rationale for the med since nothing is risk-free.

Yes: For a medication to be sold in the USA, it has to be approved by the FDA, (federal drug administration), which makes the Drug Co. go thru very rigorous trials to prove they are effective and "save" in human subjects. But as the drugs are tested in a limited amount of individuals, when ten of thousands of patients try them they could have more rare or idiosyncratic adverse effects.

what is the closest lidocaine hydrochloride medication sold over the counter.  my husband is out of his prescription and we cant see dr. for a month?

Benzocaine: is a local anesthetic used as a topical pain medication and can be found over the counter (Anbesol, Hurricaine, Orajel, Baby Orajel, and Orabase, just to name a few).
