What is the medication pilocarpine hydrochloride used for?

Couple of uses: Pilocarpine eye drops are used to treat glaucoma by lowering eye pressure. It is an old medication and is infrequently used today because of undesirable side effects, such as constriction of the pupil and headache. It is also used sometimes before certain eye procedures. Pilocarpine is also in salagen, an oral medication used for dry mouth as it stimulates salivation.
