Migraine or vascular: If your hearing is normal, i doubt the ear is the source of the pain.  There are many structures at the side of the face. These include the jaw joint, muscles that close the jaw, the teeth and gums.  Inflammation of these structures can refer pain to the side of the head.  Conversely, head pain can be caused by migraine, inflammation of vascular structures.  See your primary doc.

Infection : The only thing that causes pain in the ear lobe is an infection. As the ear lobe is just skin and connective tissue, mostly fat, there isn't much that can go wrong other than infection.

If your daughter has severe ear pain the best solution would be to go back to the doctor that did the surgery to have a second look and find out the source of the pain, if possible, and hopefully how to treat it

Ear infection: With ear pain and drainage, i think you most likely have an acute ear infection.  It is most likely an outer ear infection, but you should still see a doctor to be evaluated and appropriately treated.  Feel better!
