A few possibilities: Infection: skin, mastoiditis, pimple, shingles = common.Also common but rarely diagnosed: inflammation of the posterior or greater auricular nerves.Treatment for this might be neuroprolotherapy.Another cause could be jamming of cranial sutures behind the ear.If problem persists &/or other symptoms like fever or ear drainage-see Dr.Osteopathic exam & manipulation could help suture prob. & infection
