See an ENT: Pain behind the ear can occur due to many illnesses. Ear, infection, swimmer's ear to name a few. Any person experiencing pain behind the ear should obtain medical attention ASAP. See an ENT for evaluation and treatment to avoid serious complications.

A few possibilities: Infection: skin, mastoiditis, pimple, shingles = common.Also common but rarely diagnosed: inflammation of the posterior or greater auricular nerves.Treatment for this might be neuroprolotherapy.Another cause could be jamming of cranial sutures behind the ear.If problem persists &/or other symptoms like fever or ear drainage-see Dr.Osteopathic exam & manipulation could help suture prob. & infection
