i have a rash that start off as a small pimple and evolves to look like a burn mark. it's on my  legs, waist, arms(severe) and neck. what can this be?

Exanthems (= rashes): such as yours are often impossible to diagnose with out the MD having the advantage of " laying eyes on it." Photos of good resolution can help but won't supplant good clinical evaluation. There are so many possibilities it wouldn't help anything to try to narrow down with such little information. On the other hand, a good dermatologist usually can nail it in a few minutes in person.

Keratosis pilaris : rubra. Keratosis pilaris occurs when the human body produces excess amounts of the skin protein keratin, resulting in the formation of small, raised bumps in the skin often with surrounding redness. Harmless. See a dermatologist if concerned.

Keratosis pilaris: These are more of a cosmetic issue than anything serious. Some people hate them and use a loofa to scrape them off of the backs of their arms.  They happen more in kids and teens and less in adults.  You might try some low-potency Hydrocortisone cream to see if that might smooth out these little bumps on the skin.

Newborn rash: If your baby is a newborn, then it's most likely the common newborn rash erythema toxicum. The rash should clear on its own. No treatment is needed. However, there are similar looking rashes that do need medical attention, so check with your baby's doctor.

Folliculitis?: Each hair follicle is related to a small gland to lubricate it and prevent dryin out. Sometime these can become inflammed and cause small red bumps. Get it checked out to be sure it isn't an allergic reaction or viral infection.

Need diagnosis first: before cause and treatment can be given.  If you have dry skin, it is not uncommon to get plugged hair follicles called keratosis pili that can sometimes get inflamed, and is treated with moisturizers.  If you have infection/folliculitis, this would be Rx with antibiotics.  Or this may be some other type of rash.  An exam by your doctor is a starting point.

Pus?: If they have pus (pustules), then i would be concerned that he may have impetigo which needs to be treated with an antibiotic.  This is all the more likely since both kids have it.
