Heart attack: Cardiac enzymes are for the most part muscle enzymes and can be elevated by anything that causes problems with muscle. The more cardiac specific enzymes will be less bothered but none are perfect. One would have to know what was going on before your enzymes were drawn to speculate what might have happened, including lab error.

Heart attack : Troponin rises minimum8hrs and can stay up for a week. CPK rises in 2-3hrs. Canbe up a few days.

Normal: Just because the normal range is listed as 15-37, an AST value of 8 is nothing to be concerned about.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i was told last sun. in the emergency room @wesley med center that i had a heart attack, and my heart enzymes were elevated. i have a prescription for metoprolol and for tri mix (for e.d.) can i take my tri mix to have sex with my wife safely?

: I think you see a cardiologist for accurate diagnosis,advice &amp;appropriate treatment. Normally after a coronary event with heart muscle damage wel recommend no exertion for a period of time depending upon the degree of damage. Since trimix can cause dropping of blood pressure you shouldn't get this until your cardiac condition is considered stable. Often we perform a limited stress test first.

Most : Most current "heart enzyme" tests are very specific for heart damage (troponin), although there are older tests which are used less frequently which can be elevated in the setting of other muscle damage (ckmb, myoglobin). I would start by finding out which test exactly is abnormal. If it is indeed an elevated level of "troponin" then this typically indicates heart damage which can then be caused by either undue strain on the heart, or most commonly by low blood flow to the heart muscle which causes some of the cells to die off and release the enzyme. We know that many people with cardiovascular disease have issues in more than one area, so if you father has an aortic dissection, there is a good chance that he also has coronary artery disease which would increase his risk for surgery further. I would encourage you to sit down and talk with your father's physician and ask some of these same questions face to face and obtain some specific answers relating to you father's condition.

Yes: Stress is the great imitator. Can easily cause all of the symptoms you ask about. If you had these symptoms  and had a negative workup then you are lucky. Check with your primary care physician for ways to help manage your stress. BEst wishes.

: What does your BP do?  Check the device measuring heart rate by checking pulse your self. Ddi they do tilt test for POTS?  Go to Tulane.

Enzymes: Vomiting and diarrhea not related to a cardiac event should not cause significant change in cardiac specific enzymes.

Limited help: If your heart enzymes are normal (/not elevated)--usually while you are having some kind of chest discomfort, it is considered (much) less likely that the source of the problem is your heart. But, we always recommend follow up with your dr or cardiology to be sure not missing something.
