i snore while am wake..people think am in a deep sleep when am actually awake... what causes that? it always happens to me...what can i do to improvee

Other symptoms?: Any other symptoms like daytime sleepiness? You may have enough airway compromise to have obstructive sleep apnea.
See your MD for evaluatoin.

A very dark room: is essential for deep sleep.  Do you have any electronic devices on in the room?  Please move them to another room.  Abstain from mental stimulation at least one hour prior to bed, i.e., use of computer.  Do some quiet reading before bed.  Avoid stimulants such as coffee and sugar after noon.  Peace and good health.

i bit the tip of my tongue hard and was bleeding as i was falling into a deep sleep, what could of caused this?

Hypnic jerk: This hypnic jerk is a normal part of falling asleep.  Your body is transitioning between wakefulness and sleep as control changes between different parts of your brain.
As for your tongue injury it will heal very quickly, about a day.  It is amazing how quickly the mouth and tongue can heal.

yesterday night i had auditory hallucinations and ive never had these i would feel as if i were in a deep sleep then wake up and they would stop all of sudden and it was an on going thing is it possible that my anxiety caused this?

Accepted Answer

: Yes.  Anxiety can cause these symptoms.  Other reasons include very subtle seizures at night.  Or it could  just be a night dream.  See  your doctor if  they continue.

Deep sleep: Deep sleep -- non-rem stages 3 & 4 -- is also known as "restorative" sleep.  This decreases as we age, unfortunately!  stages 1 & 2 can increase by 8-15%.  Older people have more fragmented sleep, and more sleep disturbance in general.

Stop smoking: I bet if you didn't smoke, a young man like you wouldn't have a nightly chest cough. Stop smoking and lungs will clear. In the meantime try otc products to help with cough during sleep.

Sleep stages: There are historically 5 stages of sleep.  Stage 1 and 2 being light and the rest being deeper.  What it means is that sleep being unconscious, your depth of unconsciousness is deeper.  So theoretically it may take more to wake you up.

Relax: Listening to relaxation cds can help with sleep. This is a form of meditation called guided imagery. You can purchase these scripts on the internet.  A warm bath, dark, cool room, no tv or computer for 1 hour before bed. Try to go to sleep at the same time every night. No caffeine in the evening or late afternoon, .
