Not sure: Those 2 things don't usually go together.  I could certainly a guess, but the bottom line is that heart palpitations are never a good thing and you should get them checked out soon.  If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or any serious issues with the palpitations head to the er or call 911.   If the "opening of the sinuses" is a problem, see your ENT afterwards. Yes: Any kind of infection can cause heart palpitations. The most common reasons for palpitations associated with infections include fever and dehydration. Treatment of the infection and adequate rest and fluids are helpful in preventing palpitations. Some sinus medications (those with pseudophed) can also cause or worsen  palpitations, and should be avoided if palpitations are present.

Needs eval: The nature of your palpitations should be investigated. Some people have a very forceful heartbeat that they feel in their head. I would avoid herbals for now as some are cardiac stimulants. A 24 hour to 30 day event monitor would be very helpful. Sometimes medications that reduce the forecfulness of contraction (betablockers) are very helpful in this setting, depending on your results.

heart palpitations, wore holter monitor for 10 days nothing happened during that time results were normal sinus rhythm. last night had rapid heartbeat felt in middle of chest bp was 154/88 high for me but is normal now 120/72. is this atherosclerosis?

: A series of rapid heartbeats can occur spontaneously, and may indicate a response to stress, but if this is happening frequently, see a cardiologist for an exam , EKG and other testing.  "Atherosclerosis" can be seen in young children (seen with imaging of the aorta and coronary vessels as calcium deposits).

: Don't know why but your body is talking to you. Listen and take good notes then share them with your Dr. Then you all can figure it out. PVCs are considered normal.

i have been unwell for 3 months, was  hospitalised and eventually diagnosed with inappropriate sinus tachycardia. i am still unwell, weak, have tingling and numbness, head aches, pain in my neck,throat and body.  heart palpitations?

Second opinion: I recommend seeking a second opinion from a specialist in internal medicine or in infectious diseases who will take a thorough history and system review, perform a complete physical examination and order appropriate tests. Inappropriate sinus tachycardia is nonspecific. You may be referred to a neurologist. If no overt pathology is determined, you may be helped with stress management therapy.
