Low HR, high BP: Are you taking a beta blocker to treat paroysmal supraventricular tachycardia? If so, it would explain the slow pulse. If not, some patients have bradycardia tachycardia syndrome but are often treated with beta blockers. Is a cardiologist involved for treatment and to investigate the chest distress to look for cause? What does hsctn signify'. A cardiologist is best to evaluate and treat you.

PAT: Pat symptoms are the same as any tachycardia. Palpitations, heart rushing, lightheaded, short of breath, chest pain possible, pounding sensation in chest and perhaps other sensations by individual.

There are many: causes of atrial tachycardia in a young person but most likely this is a physiological response to some form of stimulation. Anxiety, excitement, dehydration, fever can all be associated with this. The aberrant conduction is a reflection of normal physiology if the heart rate is fast enough or could represent a minor abnormality of the conduction system.

: Multiple studies and meta-analysis have shown that vitamin D DEFICIENCY can cause atrial fibrillation.  Taking a vitamin D supplement would cure vitamin D deficiency, if properly monitored by your physician, and is highly unlikely to cause SVT or atrial tachycardia.

EAT: Atrial tachycardia, regardless of mechanism, conducts to the ventricles. The main issue with any form of atrial tachycardia is that the rapid ventricular rate can result in annoying symptoms and, if fast and persistent, can eventually weaken the heart. The difference between EAT and reentry is one of mechanism.  (ie how the electrical impulse is conducted). Incessant EAT requires treatment.

Accepted Answer

Common: It's surprisingly common and can occur in normal hearts in the absence of heart disease. It can be caused by cardiac stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, amphetamine, alcohol, and certain medicines like bronchodilators, atropine, and adrenalin.  Thyroid excess can cause it. Stress and lack of sleep can contribute. It occurs for no recognized reason in some.

Happens: If it is truly ectopic atrial tachycardia as opposed to reentry tachycardia, it IS something that just happens over time and is usually due to extreme stress and/or cardiac stimulants such as nicotine/caffeine/asthma meds/amphetamines.  A betablocker often will help. Reentry tachy requires that you're born with the predisposition, &amp; can be treated with meds or ablation.

Need more data: The list of causes is long, including hypertension, cardiomyopathy, valve problems, coronary heart disease, thyroid disease and electrical problems of the heart.
Tests used to assess the problem include blood tests, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and holter monitor test, among others.
