Nail diseases: I believe that Lamisil (terbinafine) cream- trademark is somewhat effective for nail fungus.  That is what i think you are referring to... But there are many nail diseases, including those due to heredity, trauma, bacteria, and autoimmune diseases, even lung diseases. Please consult a dermatologist regarding the proper diagnosis and treatment of your particular nall ailment.  Good luck.

Bad habit: Bacteria, viruses and germs in general can be spread from the nail to your mouth and then to your stomach. These can bring you some stomach disorders (stomach flu, etc). Use  a nail cutter device or nail scissors in the future. Nail biting is a bad habit and soon becomes an addiction. Good luck.

NO: Gum disease is caused by bacterial etiology, with destruction of bone support due to host reaction to the bacteria and bacterial product, and the exacerbation of destruction due to malocclusion and medical well being.  Diabetes is caused by inability to regulate glucose level in the blood.  Nail biting has nothing to do with both of these diseases.

Theoretically: Yes, you can provided that the machine / instrument was infected. The chances though that this to happen is minute. I would not be concerned of hiv, if concerned is  to hepatitis b and c. Hiv is very difficult to get as the viral particles in an unit  (ml) of blood are minimal.

Yes: If not treated, celiac disease can cause malabsorption, iron and other micro/macro nutrient deficiencies. Dry skin / brittle nails and limp hairs are all clinical symptoms of malnutrition.

Rheumatic heart dis: Rheumatic diseases themselves are not associated with splinter hemorrhage of the nails, but any rheumatic disease such as rheumatic fever that damages the heart valves can lead to bacterial endocarditis which does. The other major cause is injury.
