Yes: Yes, at least theoretically.  If you have severe flat feet you tend to have valgus ("knock kneed") ankles and secondary external rotation of your lower legs.  This forces the knees to externally rotate and creates a valgus ("knock kneed") stress on the medial knee and medial collateral ligament (mcl).

Several: Mcl injury is a planting, cutting injury. Most people experience a "pop" pain swelling and gradual stiffness over the next several hours. Mcl injuries can be associated with injury to the meniscus and other ligament injuries. Ice, elevate and maintain motion the best you can.  A mild injury should loosen up in a few days to weeks. More severe injuries take longer and rarely surgery. Get it checked.

What is the cause?: It is not unusual to have some pain for a few weeks after mcl injury. Residual medial (inside) knee pain after mcl injury may be due to a meniscus tear. Phys. therapy, brace: Most mcl sprains (gr 1-3) can be managed with nonoperative treatment. Bracing is indicated with any instability present to allow for solid healing. Motion may be limited to 0-90 for 6 weeks also to allow for solid healing. Straight leg raises are ok initially as they do not stress the healing mcl.

Several: First what is the severity? Step one after injury is ice, elevation and compression. Crutches may be necessary if your a limping. Next, obtain pain free range of motion. Progressive strengthening follows with closed chain exercises and open chain.  Once your strength is 80% of the normal side you can begin jogging then a running progression. How long it takes to get back depends on the severity.

No: There are no supplements that have been proven to improve the rate of recovery from an mcl injury.  Proper nutrition and regular exercise, in combinatioon with avoiding excessive alcohol use, tobacco abuse, or obesity are factors associated with optimal healing, but not necessarily with healing faster than normal.

2-4 wks: Isolated mcl sprains of the knee are fairly common. The healing depends on the severity of the injury (grade 1, 2 or 3) or mild, moderate or severe.If the ligament is mildly sprained near the femur the healing is fairly quick~2 wks.Or so. More signifigant tears of the tibial collateral ligament, esp.Off the tibia( where there is less blood supply)may take 6 wks to heal and bracing. See ors.
