Yes and No: Asbestos can cause scarring of the lungs(Plaques and fibrosis). In that regard a lung nodule could develop , either due to scar or due to lung Cancer. Most patients with lung nodules do not have asbestosis as the cause. So it would be low on my list of causes for a lung nodule..

Infection or cancer: Tuberculosis, a pneumonia or a cancer can present this way. There's no sense worrying about it. Just walk it through with a doctor. It will require further imaging, skin testing in specific people, maybe a biopsy. This is no time to think or philosophize. Just get it done. If it's TB or another infection you will want treatment quickly. You will want answers quickly in any case. Best of luck.

Mostly none: In general, lung nodules benign and malignant are asymptomatic (without symptoms). That said, benign is more likely associated with infection. Thus symptoms such as infection and pneumonia may be present; fever, cough, etc.... Other symptomatic nodules may be from sarcoidosis. There is a large list of symptoms with sarcoid.

Solitary lung nodule: Surgical resection of lung nodule usually depends on size of the nodule, age of the patient (age more than 30), risk factors for malignancy like 20 pack years history of cigarettes smoking, other risk factors including severity of existing heart or lung disease etc. Depending on these risk factors a consultation by a thoracic surgeon can provides options like video assisted thoracoscopic removal.

Lung tumor: Chest or mediastinal lymph nodes associated with a lesion in the lung most often represent metastasis from  a lung primary.  This can further be defined by mediastinoscopy and lymph node biopsy or if in the proper position, thoracoscopy removing the lung nodule.  A PET/CAT before any procedure will tell whether the nodes are malignant as whether the lung lesion is malignant.
