i am allergic to ceftin, cipro, macrobid, sulfa, penicillin, floxin and biaxin.  my doctor says i have an uti but she can't prescribe anything because of my allergies.  she says drink lots of water.    isn't there some antibiotic i can take?

Of course: The urine can be cultured to see what bacteria is in there, and which antibiotics can be used. If needed, an allergist can check for true allergies to antibiotics, and help select the safest one to use. If UTI symptoms are slight and they go away without antibiotics, that's ok... as long as a patient does close follow-up to check for recurrences or other bladder, kidney, vulvo-vaginal issues.

Yes: Any antibiotic can kill all the bacteria in your mouth, and let yeast florish, therefore, can cause thrush.

Not usually : The initial purpose of broad spectrum antibiotics has always been just that. To treat a broad spectrum of potential pathogens. However, to avoid resistance, isolating the bug to be eradicated and targeting your focus may be a better option.

It is a: protein synthesis inhibitor.  Proteins are the building blocks of nearly everything a cell needs to survive.  If a cell cannot produce vital proteins, not only can it not reproduce, it cannot live.

i am allergic to biaxin (clarithromycin) but for some reason i was prescribed it. i am super itchy. what can i do to make the itchiness go away?

Take Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Benadryl (diphenhydramine) should help treat the allergic reaction including the itching. (25 mg every 6 hrs). Do not take anymore of the Biaxin. Contact the prescriber and explain that you are allergic to Biaxin and ask that different antibiotic be prescribed. Mistakes do occur, an allergy may not be recorded or may be overlooked. It is your responsibility not to take medication to which you know you are allergic.

can amoxicillin and clarithromycin cause weight loss ?

Unlikely: Antibiotics may have side-effects and these two may cause some mild GI symptoms such as nausea. If you're on these meds for a couple weeks, and you're nauseated - you might lose a little bit of weight. You might want to try some ginger tea to help with the nausea. If you have fevers with the weight loss, this needs urgent evaluation. GI doctors can help with the evaluation for weight loss.

Se below: Since no one has all the answers of why a person miscarriages; medications can contribute to this event. I only know of one study with humans that showed an increase risk of miscarriages when taking Clarithromycin in the early weeks of pregnancy.

Yes, but: The bottom line is that even if endotoxins are released after a cell dies and is lysed, that you are preventing more bacteria from growing which would then die and cause release of even more endotoxins.

could biaxin (clarithromycin) cause a delay or miss a period?

Well...maybe...: I have not actually heard of an antibiotic directly causing a delay of a period. However, presuming that there was a significant infection (which was then treated with the biaxin) the infection and the effects may have interrupted your normal cycle. Of course a delayed period may be due to other issues. Could you be pregnant?
