NOT Ambien!: Ambien (zolpidem) is a SLEEPING pill and a possibly dangerous one at that! Sometimes its DRYNESS due to the heat coming up during this time of the year. Try a HUMDIFIER!
Long acting ant-histamines (OTC eg ZYRTEC) may help!

23 old male, 6"2' , 150lbs, no allergies. seem naturally very tolerant to combining  lunesta (eszopiclone) 3mg, ambien 5mg, and vistaril 100mg to sleep. suggestions?

Stop the meds: Lunesta/ambien and vistaril not working?  You need to wean off these meds and see a sleep specialist.   You can try Restoril (temazepam) or trazadone or neurontin, but i doubt it.  You should consider seroquel or zyprexa as you may have bipolar disorder, esp if you cannot shut your mind off at night.

Cause for insomnia?: Referral (possibly to psychiatrist) for thorough evaluation of your insomnia might be the smartest request you could make.  It's better than asking for more medicines when it's not clear "why" you're having this problem.  If you're still taking vyvanse (as on your other info), this may be related.  Ambien (zolpidem) can indeed result in feeling "weird" -- also doing odd things at night after taking it.

Ambien (zolpidem): Ambien (zolpidem) does affect sleep stages (i.e. Patterns) and dreaming.  It is less so than some other medications prescribed for sleep but it does cause changes to sleep structure.

No depression, but..: I am not aware of any studies indicating a correlation between chronic zolpidem use and major depression. Some patients have become physically dependent on the medication; some develop tolerance (i.e. They need to increase their dose over time); some pts have memory impairment, usually while the med. Is in their system; and some have had episodes of sleepwalking or doing other purposeful behavior.

The : The recent study you are most likely alluding to does not establish an actual cause and effect relationship.  It is not known if the sleep medications cause increased risk or if people who are at increased risk  are just the people who tend to use these medications.  However, Ambien (zolpidem) increases interluken 8, which stimulates cancer growth. Regardless, congratulations for successfully coming off a sleep medication after being on it for so long.
