Sciatica: You are most probably describing Sciatica, irritation of sciatic nerve from trauma or adjacent muscle irritation or structural issues. Would recommend looking into stretching and exercise as first thing to try. May want to see a physical therapist who can evaluate and come up with program to help you. Take care of yourself now as this problem can get more severe the longer it’s present.

Sciatic nerve pinch.: Based on it's location, the pain is most likely due to compression of the nerve root as it exits spinal canal (at the level l5-s1). The test, that is most revealing, is MRI of the lumbar spine. Consider visit to pain specialist for evaluation and treatement.

Not clear: The pain is located on the left but the right leg is turned out- this may be an adaptive response to the left buttock pain. I assume the crawling sensatioin is on the left and standing/walking makes it worse. If correct you may be dealing with sciatica. I would suggest seeing your primary for referral to a pain specialist for further evaluation.

Not usually: But this is common with "sciatica" or nerve root irritation in your low back.  The common complaints of nerve compression syndromes in your low back are pain anywhere from your low back, buttock, thigh, knee, leg and into your foot.  It can be in any of these locations independently as well. Hernias usually dont give you knee and buttock pain.

Sciatica: Although there are some other possibilities like muscle spasm and pyriformis syndrome, the most likely cause is lumbar disc disease with nerve impingement. To be sure see a spine specialist or PMR doctor who can order neuroimaging and a test like an EMG. Then the next steps after making sure there is no vascular, immune or rheumatologic process would be to initiate PT &amp; possibly  meds or injection
