Sciatica: You are most probably describing Sciatica, irritation of sciatic nerve from trauma or adjacent muscle irritation or structural issues. Would recommend looking into stretching and exercise as first thing to try. May want to see a physical therapist who can evaluate and come up with program to help you. Take care of yourself now as this problem can get more severe the longer it’s present.

See below: Your description does indeed suggest a sciatic irritation, which might be due to piriformis syndrome, in the left buttock. This pattern would be less likely from disc rupture pressing on a nerve in lower back. Either way, get this diagnosed and consider physical therapy and an eventual exercise program.
