See details: See an orthopedist and have the problem evaluated. Cracking without pain is generally not an issue worth evaluating. The presence of pain makes evaluation worthwhile.

Need more info: In young people hip pain can be due to poor alignment between the top of the thigh bone and the hip socket, causing impingment. It can also be a tear in the labrum. More serious conditions involve poor blood supply to the head of the thigh bone, called avascular necrosis, and then there is arthritis, damage to the cartilage, bursitis and tendonitis.

my wife dislocated her hip in an rta about 10 years ago. the hip joint was rejoined using screws. the leg is always painful. need to know what help?

Xray: She probably needs an xray to check her hip.  Without seeing any xrays its hard to give advice but she may have developed post traumatic arthritis of her hip, avascular necrosis, could have hardware failure, etc.  I would recommend she be seen by an orthopedic doctor with specialty in hip reconstruction.

ive had hip joint pain on one side. i cant sit for a long time or sit on the floor. i cant bring my leg up to put on shoes ?

Sounds like problem: with your low back or hip.  You need to see an ortho or spine specialist for imaging tests and proper treatment.  This might be a nerve problem also.

Sharp hip pain: Did it occur suddenly after an actvity? Have you been very active in sports? If so could be disc herniation or could be primary hip injury,  like capsule tear, avascular necrosis seek medical attention this week. Avoid strenuous activity, running,etc.

started having occassional sharp pain radiating up and down from front inner side of hip joint, towards inner leg.  a concern or muscular?

Maybe: It may be muscular or  illioinguinal neuralgia. Muscle pain will probably resolve over time. The neuralgia usually requires simple nerve blocks.

after 10 minutes on a threadmill i start feeling pain in the left hip joint (also muscle numbness) and have trouble lifting the left leg. why is that?

Nerve impingement : Your history suggest that your symptoms may be coming from the low back/ lumbar spine. Recommendations for further work up and treatment will need to come after a thorough physician consult.

i keep waking up or being woken up by severe pain in my right hip joint. sometimes, like today it lasts all morning. and causes acute pain when i try to use my right leg.

Sorry for your pain: Try lying flat on your back either on the floor or in bed.  Bring your right knee up to about 90 degrees - like you are going to pull it to your chest but not so far.  Slowly and gently, rotate your right knee towards the left.  If it reproduces your pain, it could in fact be coming from the ball and socket hip joint.  You really need to see your doc and get an xray of the right hip.

twice this week i've had stabbing hip joint pain which left me unable to walk for 20 minutes. hurts to rotate leg inward. i am completely fine afterwards. not overweight, no injury or back pain. help?

Could be a: Pinched nerve.  Best to see a neurologist or orthopedist for an evaluation.  Hope this helps.
