i would like to know if a person has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and takes medication. if you stop can it lead to cardiovascular issues?

Not directly.: A person with schizophrenia could also have cardiovascular issues not caused by medications. Medications help the agitation in schizophrenia  and when discontinued could bring upon agitation due to delusions and hallucinations that will agitate the patient and bring on a cardiovascular event especially if it is pre-existing.

Risk vs benefit ADHD: Anyone with a significant cardiovascular history personally or in the family should be thoroughly checked out for cardiac disease prior to starting on any of the psychostimulants. Having said that however this class of medications is incredibly safe and has far more benefits than risks. Some of the benefits include an average increase in school grades of two points, meaning that if someone is getting c grades they are likely to go up to a's. Teens who are unmedicated have four times the risk of car accidents and five times the risks of fatal car accidents then they're treated peers.Also, there is a far lesser chance of incarceration and substance abuse in those who are treated.

asthma medications. have had asthma since childhood which is normally controlled with exercise, but cannot maintain cardiovascular fitness during winter and have been experiencing symptoms. should i start a preventative medication again?

Likely: Daily use of an inhaled steroid at a low dose may meet your needs. Inhaling cold outside air is a trigger for some. Discuss this with your primary care doc &amp; write up a care plan based on your level of symptoms. This would allow you to increase/decrease dosing based on any daily /weekly changes.

In 2013 not harmful: It is presently thought that the administration of a stimulant medication does not cause short term or long term adverse effects in terms of health.  There remain unanswered questions that the research community is still trying to unlock presently and so to say that there are no long term effects at all may not be entirely true.  At the present, when used appropriately they are safe.

Diets: There are many foods that are good for controlling cardiovascular risk, particularly when you are also taking the prescribed medication.
