Don't worry.: Many women have these antibodies and the vast majority have normal pregnancies each time. Only a small fraction of such women will have the dreaded antiphspholipid antibody syndrome (which consists of recurrent thromboses, pregnancy losses and lupus-like disease). If you are otherwise asymptomatic and just happened to be positive for this immunologic test, you need to stay calm and see an mfm doc.

Auto-antibodies: Anti-cardiolipin antibodes are seen in some patients with auto-immune disease and in patients with syphilis. Igm antibodies mean recent onset of antibody production and igg means antibody production going on for a while. For details see these sites.

Cardiolipin is one of phospholipid.  Individuals infected with syphilis develop antibody against cardiolipin (anticardiolipin). The RPR &amp; VDRL tests have been utilized as screen tests for syphilis which detect the presence of anticardiolipin in the blood of tested individuals.
