i just had a cystoscopy and lithotripsy done how long will i be in pain and how long will there be blood in my urine?

Vary...: If you have no stent left inside ureter, you will feel better with clearing urine within 1-3 days. But sporadic blood in urine may recur for 1-2 weeks until the bruised bladder lining heals up.  If you get stent inside, the pain and intermittent blood will last until its removal, but medication may ease the discomfort.

i have a lot of  white small tissue pieces in my urine after 22 days ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy and also was suspicious tcc, what i will do?

Accepted Answer

Quite normal: Passing fragments and trash for 4-8 weeks after lithotripsy is normal.  Your Urologist can run cytology and/or FISH TEST later to help determine if TCC is suspicious or present.   He will answer your ??? as you progress.

i had shock wave lithotripsy 10 days ago with a stent placed. the stent pain has been horrible but decreasing daily. there is so much blood in my urine. seems to start to clear up one minute and the next my urine looks like coffee. it smells fine?

: None of this is either alarming or unexpected.  Appears your urologist has intervened quite well, and covered the basics.  If you continue to have concerns, contact the office. Could be normal: However, stone possible has not broken up.  Unusual not to have some skin discomfort where lithotripsy balloon made contact.

Yes: Lithotripsy pulverizes a stone but you still have to pass the sand like sediment. Instead of passing a 5mm stone, you are passing very tiny particles. This will cause pain and burning. You can also develop an infection after the procedure. Talk to your urologist if the problems continue.

i had laser lithotripsy with stent placement 11 days ago.   bed-ridden for about a week. 4 days ago i started feeling dizziness while driving/walking. i can feel the stent and my urine went from normal to light orange brown. ?

Urologist: That will be enough to check back in with your treating urologist. An exam with urine studies as well as review of your meds will be needed.

how long should i bleed bright red after urethral lithotripsy?  i had a 1 cm calcium stone broken up and removed and a stent placed yesterday. drinking a full glass of water after each urination but the bleeding is bright red still.

Accepted Answer

Post bleeding: Heavy bleeding would be unusual and concerning after that procedure although mild amounts of blood in urine could occur for days. Notify your urologist of this bleeding and get advice.

110lb/47 yo, drink approx. 120oz of water a day and 2-3 small cups of coffee. urine output is 4-4.5l. mild/moderate exercise. unexplained palpitations low hr and pulse since lithotripsy and cdiff two years ago. is this water intake safe? labs normal?

: Re heart and pulse pl see a cardiologist. Till then hold off on coffee. You can also reduce your fluid intake a bit and then follow cardiologists advice.

ESWL: Eswl treatment is performed under sedation on an outpatient  basis.  There will be some mild post-procedure discomfort and some blood in the urine.  Passage of fragments may cause pain requiring narcotic analgesia.

why is it that they put you under for a lithotripsy?

Accepted Answer

Minimize distress: Lithotripsy requires intubations through delicate and sensitive areas.  These can be painful and there is enhanced pain from the inflammation of the kidney/ureteral stone.  Also the instrument has to be carefully aimed to just fragment the stone and minimize damage to the normal tissue and this is more easily achieved while the patient is under anesthesia.
