i have a canker sore on my gum line in the back of my mouth and while brushing it bled and appeared to "pop" (pain is less now). should i be worried?

See doctor: I would have to see the lesions to be sure that it is something benign.  i usually give kenalog (triamcinolone) in oribase to put on these lesions so that you have relief while it heals.

Well, no....: cannot say in your particular case, and canker sores can have wide inflammation helped by NSAIDS. AND, serious infection can be misdiagnosed as a canker sore.

Canker sores: are not pleasant and can be very painful. Canker sore is the most common oral lesions. Individual ulcers typically last 1-2 weeks. The condition is idiopathic (the cause is not known) and recurrent aphthous ulcers are usually self-limiting. Your dentist may prescribe an antimicrobial mouth rinse corticosteroid ointment to control the pain and irritation.

Yes: Yes, you can get canker sores on the gums, cheeks, the soft palate (the back upper portion of your mouth) and very commonly on the tongue. They tend to be round, white or gray in color, and have a red edge or border around them. Citrus fruits and acidic fruits and vegetables can exacerbate or trigger them, as can dental trauma or even braces. They generally heal within a week or two.

Very unlikely: Canker sores (also called aphtus ulcers) normally grow on movable mucosa of the mouth.. Meaning  the thin movable areas of the mouth which connects the lips to the attached gums (around the gum-tooth line).. If a lesion appears on the  facial side of the attached  gums ... It can be different things and less likely a canker sore. Please see your dentist, ; he might wanna refer you to a specialist.

See a dentist: Most soars normally heal with in seven to ten days. If your soar is still there after 3 weeks than you need to look in to it as soon as possible. Please see a Dentist or an ENT for proper examination and treatment.

Yes and yes: Canker sore is associated with inflammation and thus gum swelling is not unexpected. It too will subside along with the canker sores within a day or two.

You can...: Get a canker sore on any tissue in the mouth except maybe your teeth and adenoids.

Dental sore: This could be from the chips, either trauma from eating them or high salt content. If you problem worsens or does not improve over the next few weeks, I would recommend you see a dentist or oral surgeon for further evaluation
