hello!i am having a canker sore in the inner right cheek.it's pretty high, very near the teeth.when i touched it, it feels like a ganglion. what to do?

Is it painful?: How long have you had it?  I recommend l-lysine (see image) ointment and to stay away from anything acidic (tomato sauce, citrus, etc) which can make the pain worse.  Also, to prevent from biting it in your sleep, ointment + gauze and cover it at night.  If it is not gone within a week please see a dentist to make sure this is what it is!

Canker sores: is the most common oral lesions. Most ulcers, infections will clear up by themselves within a week or two. You should see your GP or dentist if the ulcer gets worse or lasts for longer than 2 weeks.

can you have a canker sore on your gums? on the side near where the teeth are and not just the inner cheek, tongue, or inside of the lips?

Yes, you can: Recurrent aphthous ulcers may sometimes form on the attached gingiva, although most will occur on the mucous membranes. If it doesn't resolve on its own within 14 days, consult with your dentist.

i have small bump inside my cheek where canker sore used to be?

A guess only!: You might be associating the opening of your salivary duct which looks like a small bump to the canker sore, when in fact, it was there all the time. It is also possible you have a neoplasm (growth) or something else. See you dentist who can examine you and tell you for sure.

i have a canker sore on the inside of my cheek is it normal to feel numbness on the inside on my cheek?

Canker Sores: You may be irritating the sore on the inside of your cheek if it is inflamed and you are chronically biting it.  Often times, this may elicit feelings of tingling.  Canker sores are generally viral in origin and the one describe may be infected.  To be sure, i recommend that you visit your dds or an oral surgeon for an evaluation and/or a biopsy, it they deem it necessary.

so i have dipped about a total of 10 times i have now stopped but i have one canker sore and two white dots and a bump in my cheek should i be worried?

Take It Seriously: It's highly unlikely that you've developed a serious oral problem from using spit tobacco just 10 times. However, it's quite possible that you're having a bad reaction to the product. As with any mouth sore, redness, ulcer, etc., it should be checked by a dentist, oral surgeon, or ENT if it persists two weeks or more. It could still be a serious problem, which may/may not be related to the dip.

can alcohol cause canker sores? i have an area that hurts between my molars and my cheek. but it seems too big to be a canker sore. idk. please help.

Possibly!: Alcohol is an irritant to mucosal tissue. Depends on your particular sensitivity and on the Proof of the drink and how many exposures to it you've had. What can cause a lesion for you may not for someone else. Be careful...there are other lesions that can mimic canker sores too.

felt a tiny bump (about size of dot from fine-tip marker) on inside of cheek, thought it was canker sore but i looked & it's dark red. what could be?

Many things: Red areas like that are often somthing as simple as minor trauma, such as biting your cheek. A simple rule of thumb fir mouth lesions is anything that lasts more than two weeks needs evaluation by your dentist. The great majority of even the persistent lesions are benign but warrant a diagnosis.

Mucocele: are painless thin little cysts; fluid filled sacs which have clear fluid due to the trauma. It will just rupture on their own, spontaneously, and then not come back.

Canker sores: are not pleasant and can be very painful. Canker sore is the most common oral lesions. Individual ulcers typically last 1-2 weeks. The condition is idiopathic (the cause is not known) and recurrent aphthous ulcers are usually self-limiting. Your dentist may prescribe an antimicrobial mouth rinse corticosteroid ointment to control the pain and irritation.
